Programme Overview
The MDS programme at MIDSR Dental College is a 3-year full-time postgraduate course offering specialization in all nine dental specialties recognized by the Dental Council of India. The programme is designed to produce competent specialists with advanced clinical skills, research aptitude, and academic leadership abilities.
The curriculum includes advanced clinical training, laboratory work, research methodology, biostatistics, and a mandatory dissertation/thesis. Students are trained under experienced faculty with access to modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
Eligibility & Admission
Academic: BDS degree from a recognized dental college with minimum 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC).
Internship: Must have completed or be completing compulsory rotatory internship by the admission cutoff date.
Registration: Must possess permanent or provisional registration with the State Dental Council.
Entrance: Valid NEET MDS score as per NBEMS guidelines.
Admission: Through centralized counselling conducted by CET Cell Maharashtra.

Prosthodontics & Crown & Bridge
Crown & bridge, dentures, implant-supported prostheses, maxillofacial prosthetics
Periodontology
Gum disease management, scaling/root planing, periodontal surgery, implants
Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics
Root canal treatment, restorative dentistry, aesthetic restorations
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Surgical extractions, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, implant surgery
Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics
Fixed & removable appliances, aligner therapy, cleft lip/palate management
Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry
Child behaviour management, preventive care, interceptive orthodontics
Research & Dissertation
Each MDS student is required to undertake a research project leading to a dissertation under the guidance of a recognized postgraduate teacher. The dissertation work begins in the first year and is submitted before the final year examinations.
The college provides access to advanced research facilities including histopathology lab, microbiology lab, digital radiography, and library resources with access to international journals through EBSCOhost and MUHS Digital Library.
Clinical Training
Postgraduate students receive intensive clinical training in their chosen specialty, managing complex cases under faculty supervision. The college has dedicated PG clinics, seminar rooms, and treatment planning facilities. Students are expected to present seminars, journal clubs, and participate in departmental academic activities throughout the programme.
